Technical Information

Application

Brush slab to remove any dirt or debris. Smartseal Imprinted Concrete Sealer must applied with a sprayer unit or roller, keeping sprayer head moving to avoid pooling. The first application must be brushed into the surface and allowed to dry past tacky prior to applying the second coat. Avoid application in strong, direct sunlight - do not apply if rain is likely within 3 hours of application.

Deicing salts should not be applied directly on Smartseal block paving or concrete sealers. Salt chemically reduces the temperature at which water freezes and will result in water ingress into the concrete. Subsequent freezing may result in the concrete ‘seal’ being broken by the expansion of water as it freezes and white ‘pitted’ areas may become visible.

Technical & Test Data

Smartseal Imprinted Concrete Sealer has been tested by the TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) and certified that it meets the SRV (Skid Resistance Value) for all categories of paving for local authority pedestrian areas and when heavily trafficked is suitable for special applications where risks of skidding are high as laid down in the UK Highway Authorities Tender Specification. Copies available on request.

Health & Safety

Flammable liquid. Do not smoke. Keep application area well ventilated. Wear respirator when applying. Store in a cool place. Flash point 42°C (Abel-Closed Cup). Refer to the Health & Safety Data Sheet for further information.

Hi Nigel Further to our telephone conversation and emails of 25/26 July I am pleased to say that having followed your advice my driveway now looks as good as new; in fact my wife says it's better than when new! My only disappointment is the translucent silicone sealant which in my opinion is too white and prominent against the grey concrete. I didn't actually have enough sealant to finish the job so I bought another brand locally and whilst is said translucent on the tube it turned out to be more like clear and I must say it blends in much better. So it's now a case of removing and resealing I'm afraid. That's life eh! Never the less I am still very grateful for your help and extremely pleased with your excellent service and products. After 5 or 6 years of constant use the printed concrete driveway was showing signs of wear as the original sealer had worn through and the colour of the concrete was showing through so a call was made to Smart Seal giving the details and the size of the area we sent photos of the drive and in return we wore advised on the amount of sealer the correct colouring agent and how to clean and apply the sealer . The order was placed the complete kit arrived in a couple of days . After the prep work and on a worm day the sealer was applied and then a week later a second coat was also applied and now the drive looks shinny and new again , The sealer is so easy to apply and the Finnish is amazing i am very pleased with the whole service and i would recommend Smart Seal .

I recently made an enquiry re help to correct a badly installed imprinted concrete drive. The surface had flaked badly exposing uncoloured concrete and had cracks in several places. I spoke to Nigel who requested photographs of the drive and he then gave me excellent advice and identified the products and quantities I would need. Without any guarantee of success, Nigel felt confident that I would be able to get the drive back to approximately 90% of where it should be. During the period of time that I spent carrying out the repair work, I rang Nigel at each stage for his advice. He was very patient with me and very knowledgeable with the products. Our pattern imprinted driveway started to look faded and had small sections of exposed concrete from a couple of harsh winters and general wear and tear. I found Smartseal on the internet and decided to order the repair compound, colour tint and silk sealant. The staff answered a couple of queries I had by e-mail the same day and the goods arrived within two days. I found the video on Smartseal's website invaluable and we followed the instructions to the letter. We have now given our driveway three coats and I can only say it looks better now than when it was newly laid ! Neighbours have been coming over to admire it ! Great product, very easy to use and apply, drys quick, did as instructed re-aplied 2nd coat after 4hrs, the 25ltr container allowed me to do 2 coats of sealer on approx 75 sq mts, my 4 year old pattern concrete looks brand new now. Tip - make sure to read all the instuctions before using the product 1st, my only mistake was I did it on a hot day and got the odd bubble forming on the joints where the sealer was at its thickest, no problem really. All-In-all very Happy, Great Service :-)

This product is amazingly easy to apply and a second coat can be added after a couple of hours. I applied it with a couple of old dustpan brushes that I wanted shot of. I ordered last Thursday 25 litres of Silk Finish sealant for our imprinted concrete large patio area and it arrived before 09.00 hrs today (Tuesday). We have this afternoon just finished applying two coats and we are absolutely delighted with the result. It looks as good as new which is wonderful considering it was laid over 5 yrs ago and not been treated since then. We have now got the incentive to do our driveway & front of the house which is cobblestone printed concrete. This needs a bit of slate grey colour to mix with the silk finish clear sealant we have left. I have today ordered the colour and look forward to treating the front cobblestone area. I want to thank Smartseal for the prompt and friendly service & technical support which is most helpful and very much appreciated. The product with the tint and non slip went on very well and dried quicker than we expected ( about 2 hrs) although we had some bubbles especially along the imprinted creases in the driveway. What level of tint to add is though a little trial & error but we overall have a quality finish
