If you are a DIY enthusiast, then you need to know how to mount a PVC window!
WHAT DO YOU NEED
- new window (complete with doors and frame)
- sand paper
- caulking gun
INSTALLING A PVC WINDOW
Take the measurements of your old window (width, height and diagonal) before buying the new PVC window.
Dismantled the old window by first removing the doors and then the frame.
If the frame is fixed with screws, you may need a screw gun.
Clear away the old silicone using a cutter.
If there is plaster, this too should be removed using sandpaper coarse.
Clean the sill from dust and / or from the plaster.
Take the new chassis and place it within the window.
Check with a level that the frame is perfectly aligned with the edges of the compartment.
For this, do lend a hand by someone.
With a pencil, mark the location where the screws will be fixed later.
For security, re-checked before drilling!
Drill the screw holes and applied (should be two on each side).
Mount the doors on the hinges.
With silicone, seal with care the outer perimeter of the window and remove with a cutter the excess silicone.
Prudence should always be the first thing!
Equip yourself with gloves and goggles.
Pay increased attention if the window is located on the upper floors of the building.
Read the booklet with instructions contained in the package of your new window.
On frame and doors may be some protective films, to be removed as you proceed with the installation.
