A quality wood sealer can provide much needed protection to external wooden surfaces that are constantly exposed to the elements. The wood sealer, acting as a wood waterproofer will provide longevity and durability to decking, fencing, benches, tables and other wooden garden furniture. This is achieved by sealing the wood and filling the porous voids that cause water ingress problems with most types of wood. The wood sealer will effectively help prevent the wood from rotting and stop moisture getting into the surface.

Many external wooden surfaces can look great at first and improve the visual appeal of a garden or other outside area. However, over time, adverse weather and constant exposure to UV light can reduce the lifespan of these surfaces. If the wood is porous it will inevitably be susceptible to the growth of green algae, mould and moss. Preparation of any wooden surface prior to sealing is also vitally important. Removal of dirt, algae, moss, mould or any other surface contaminants should always be carried out prior to the application of the wood sealer. Products such as deck cleaner and green clear are great for helping anyone prepare a wooden surface for sealing. However, sometimes, especially on surfaces like decking, using a pressure washer is recommended to ensure the surface is totally clean prior to the wood sealer being applied.
